Ford’s Faves: Neil Young, Grateful Dead

Ford's Faves

Every Friday, in-house music aficionado and buyer Tim Ford graces us with his musings on the best releases of the week. Can’t get enough? He’s also somehow still allowed to run our Instagram — check it.

Faves for June 7, 2019:

NEIL YOUNG & STRAY GATORS

TUSCALOOSA (LIVE)

A live album smack dab in the middle of Neil Young’s peak writing streak? Sign this kid up. I’ll give my money every single time Neil Young puts something out, especially a live album with ‘Out On The Weekend’ on it.

GRATEFUL DEAD

AOXOMOXOA (50TH ANNIVERSARY)

I don’t care what anyone says, and understand the irony in saying this – but the Grateful Dead are punk rock. This is the album that could have made them globe trotting rock stars, but instead they made a record so bananas people thought it was pressed incorrectly. It’s their peak experimental period and they delivered a masterpiece.
