Ford’s Faves: Phosphorescent, Cat Power, Ancient Shapes

Ford's Faves

Every Friday, in-house music aficionado and buyer Tim Ford graces us with his musings on the best releases of the week. Can’t get enough? He’s also somehow still allowed to run our Instagram — check it.

Faves for October 5, 2018:

PHOSPHORESCENT: C'EST LA VIE

Phosphorescent

C’est La Vie

Country music for people who don’t like country music.

Psych music for people who only like country music.

Cat Power

Wanderer

This album features Lana Del Rey which is apt because Lana Del Rey essentially took what Cat Power did and cartooned it.

Cat Power is the real deal.

CAT POWER: WANDERER
ANCIENT SHAPES: SILENT RAVE

Ancient Shapes

Silent Rave

Another band from one of my favorite Canadian songwriters, Daniel Ramono.

Aside from his solo work, he was in Attack in Black.

Ancient Shapes are very much Buzzcocks and power pop/punk. So unbelievably good though
